Since the North Line patch hit, I’ve spent more hours than I’d like to admit figuring out what really makes the difference between scraping through an encounter and getting flattened by the first ARC squad you bump into. It’s not just aim or awareness – it’s how fast you get yourself back in the fight. Everyone takes hits. The good players patch up and carry on before the enemy even realises they’re still standing. Forget crouching behind a boulder, fiddling with a slow bandage while praying a drone doesn’t swing round. If you’ve been around enough, you’ll know there’s a quicker play involving ARC Raiders Items that top players swear by.
I call it "heal stacking." You don’t see it explained anywhere in-game, but here’s the gist – healing items can overlap. That means you can pop something for instant HP and, at the same time, keep a heal-over-time ticking away. The go-to combo is a Vita Shot and a Bandage. Vita Shot smacks you with a fast 50 HP burst. Straight after hitting it, begin applying a Bandage – you’ll keep topping up over the next ten seconds. By doing both at once, you’re going from barely breathing to nearly full HP in moments. It feels cheeky but it’s all legit mechanics.
This trick works with shields too. Taking sustained fire? Don’t just crouch and let them naturally come back. Slam down a Surge Recharger for that instant bump, then slip into cover. The surge effect gives you breathing room while your standard regen kicks in, so you’re back at max faster than waiting it out. To pull this off mid-fight without fumbling, make sure your quick-slots are set. Whether that’s Q or something else, load up Vita Shots, Bandages, and Surge Rechargers so they’re one button away – no digging through menus while bullets fly.
There’s also a neat team angle. If a squadmate is hurting or has just been revived, you can alt-fire while looking at them to slap a heal onto them instantly. That’s far quicker than the normal revive and a lifesaver in hot situations. And, if you want to stay stocked, upgrade your Med Station to Level II as soon as you can. That unlocks Sterilised Bandages – 50 HP over 10 seconds instead of the basic 20 – cheap to craft and worth carrying on every run. Nail this healing style and those “almost dead” moments turn into clutch saves. It’s the kind of edge that keeps you alive long enough to grab more loot and hunt down better ARC Raiders weapons.
