Reliquarian's 3.29 rework gives Scion players a reason to stop treating the class as a weird side project. It can now carry a build idea rather than merely patching a few stats. Before committing to a route, it is worth setting aside some POE currency for respec points and gear swaps, because this Ascendancy rewards testing more than blind copying. You will quickly notice that the strongest picks are not always the ones with the biggest damage line. They are the ones that free up an item slot or solve a problem your skill already has.

A simple way to plan a Reliquarian character

Don't rush straight toward the flashiest capstone. Start with the weakness that keeps killing your character, then choose the unique-item effect that fixes it. The order matters, especially while your gear is still rough.

1. Take Elevore early if suppression, ailment avoidance, and recovery are missing from your setup
2. Move into a sixth-point option that matches your damage type, such as Shimmeron for charge-based crit spells or Arakaali's Fang for poison attacks
3. Build around the mechanic instead of treating it as a free bonus; Black Cane needs steady Phantasm generation, while spiders need reliable kills
4. Choose a capstone only after checking whether a Bloodline or defensive node would do more for your actual map and boss experience

Dawnbreaker is a good example of why timing matters. Damage conversion looks brilliant on paper, but it feels bad when your fire resistance, armour, and recovery aren't ready for it. Later on, it can turn several incoming damage types into one problem you know how to handle. Melding of the Flesh works in a similar way. It's strong when you can push one maximum resistance high enough to carry the rest, but it isn't something to grab casually. Projectile players have an easier decision with Gloomfang. Extra chain is useful right away, and the added chaos damage gives chained hits a real purpose beyond clearing packs.

The fun part is that Reliquarian doesn't force one answer. A corpse-focused caster can lean into Black Cane and keep Phantasms rolling. A poison attacker can use Arakaali's Fang without giving up a proper weapon. A life-stacking Burning Arrow of Vigor setup can make The Apostate feel like the whole character was built around it. Some options will still be niche, and that's fine. Fidelitas' Spike and flaskless setups ask for too much in many ordinary builds.
